Standing up for Ireland
Terri Thorpe
Kildare County Council
Newbridge
A ‘Lilywhite’ to the core, I have lived in Newbridge for 35 years. I have 4 grown children. I worked in BNM Head Office for 20 years, becoming a SIPTU senior rep at local, county and national level – ACTS Branch President, VC of Energy and Natural Resources Sector, BNM ESOP Chair.
Studies in Public Speaking, CRM Mediation and Psychotherapy strengthened my credibility at discussions and negotiations.
I have a keen focus on the importance of ‘community collaboration’ and I’ve been a strong advocate for Social Inclusion, volunteering with IWA, Debra Ireland, Nurture Africa, and HOPE(D) Mental Health Charity. I played an active part of the original steering committee for the PPN – ‘Social inclusion’ and ‘Social prescribing’ services.
I believe in ‘respectful engagement’. Actively listening to people allows empowerment and relevance within the community.
