Standing up for Ireland

Ruth Nolan
South Dublin County Council
Palmerstown - Fonthill
A mother of two children and a grandmother of 3 children, I live in Lucan with my partner. I am currently employed as a civil servant and previously worked in the private sector. I was a shop steward for 17 years. During this period, our union was successful in unionising the majority of the betting office industry, leading to better wages and conditions for staff in this industry. It was this experience as a trade unionist that motivated me to get involved in politics and I am passionate about workers and women’s rights. I was elected to South Dublin Co Council in 2014 representing the Lucan local electoral area.
