Standing up for Ireland
Noel Keelan
Monaghan County Council
Carrickmacross-Castleblayney
Noel Keelan has been a Sinn Féin Councillor since 1999 and has a well-deserved reputation as a hard working public representative. Whilst Noel was previously a carpenter and part-time farmer, he has been a fulltime Councillor since the early 2000’s. His experience in construction and agriculture, however, have provided him with the skills needed to problem-solve and innovate in his role as an Elected Representative.
Noel represents Monaghan County Council on the East Border Region Committee and is the Chairperson of the county’s Strategic Policy Committee on Climate Action and the Environment.
He has been the Council’s constant voice of opposition to Eirgrid’s plan to roll out their 400kv Overhead Pylon system and has campaigned vigorously to force Government to advance the project underground.
Hundreds of families and individuals have received help and support from Noel in issues as diverse as housing applications, planning permissions, road complaints and medical representations. His commitment to the role, as well as his energy in helping people, has meant his continued re-election on each occasion since 1999.
If re-elected in June, Noel will continue to call for increased investment in rural areas like Inniskeen, Lisdoonan and Donaghmoyne; as well as working to increase amenities, support businesses and make south Monaghan the best place to live, work and raise a family
