Standing up for Ireland

Gerry Murray
Mayo County Council
Swinford
Since elected to Mayo County Council, Cllr Gerry Murray has delivered numerous social and economic projects for the community. These include: new libraries; art centres; playgrounds; sports facilities; roll out of sanitation and water schemes; regeneration of local authority housing; the taking in charge of group water schemes; ongoing maintenance of local and regional roads. Gerry successfully campaigned for local authorities in the west to be stakeholders in Ireland West Airport. He is a passionate believer in balanced regional development. He is campaigning for critical infrastructure projects such as roads, rail and broadband, so rural Ireland can attract foreign direct invest- ment and be enabled to grow indigenous industry and enterprise. An infrastructural deficit in rural Ireland is impeding employment and investment. With significant matching funding available at EU level, there is no excuse for government failure to make the fiscal commitments needed.
