Standing up for Ireland
Donna McGettigan
Clare County Council
Shannon
Born in Belfast 1972, our family moved to Shannon, Co.Clare in the 1970s.
I am passionate about Clare and believe with the right resources it has the potential to thrive.
Shannon, where I grew up and was educated, has a unique community spirit as it is one of the newest towns in Ireland and so belongs to a wide range of Nationalities.
I am a strong advocate for equality, mental health and workers’ rights.
I currently work with a broad group of volunteer sectors and this year I am the first female Cathaoirleach of the Shannon Municipal District.
In July 2020 I successfully saw through a motion at council to upgrade Ennis Hospital to a Model Three. This remains a key priority for me.
