Originally from Caherslee, Cathal is married to Joanne Naughton from Mitchel’s Road, and they live in Ballinorig with their three children. Cathal has vast experience having first been elected to Tralee Town Council in 1999, serving up to the abolition of Town Councils by Fine Gael in 2014. He was co-opted to Kerry County Council by Sinn Féin in 2019 when a vacancy arose due to a retirement. Educated at Holy Family NS, CBS The Green and former RTC, he is heavily involved in his local community and is a member of Kerins O’Rahilly’s GAA Club and cycles with The Chain Gang in Tralee. Cathal previously worked as a Parliamentary Assistant to Martin Ferris TD, and is acutely aware of the issues facing the people of Tralee and surrounding areas.
