West Belfast Detached Youth Work Team must have funding restored – Baker

Sinn Féin MLA Danny Baker has called for the re-establishment of funding for the West Belfast Detached Youth Work Team.

The party’s children and young people spokesperson said:

“Youth workers play an important role in keeping our young people safe, while also giving them fantastic opportunities to learn, thrive and prosper.

“Savage Tory cuts have stripped vital funds away from our most deprived communities, including funding for the West Belfast Detached Youth Work Team.

“This team played a key role in recent years keeping young people across West Belfast safe, bringing down anti-social behaviour levels and promoting excellent cross-community relations.

“I am calling for this funding to be reinstated, for youth work to be properly funded and for our most vulnerable young people to be fully supported.
