‘Upgrades to A1 will improve safety and cut journey times’ – Ennis

Sinn Féin MLA Sinéad Ennis has welcomed an announcement from Infrastructure Minister John O’Dowd to commence procurement for the A1 Junctions Phase 2 this week.

The South Down MLA said:

“The A1 Junctions Phase 2 is a long-anticipated project for those who travel this road on a daily basis, particularly commuters between Dublin and Belfast.

“Sinn Féin has consistently called for the delivery of this scheme, and I want to commend the infrastructure minister for the progress he has achieved to date.

“Upgrading this stretch of road will improve safety for drivers and passengers, cut journey times and ensure this economic corridor continues to play an important role in all-island travel and trade.

“This is an important step forward and I look forward to seeing further progress on this vitally important road.”
