‘Together we must unite and end violence against women and girls’ – Dillon

Sinn Féin MLA Linda Dillon has expressed her condolences to the family of Karen Cummings.

Speaking after police launched a murder investigation into the death, Linda Dillon said:

“It is absolutely devastating to hear that Karen Cummings was murdered.

“My heartfelt thoughts are with her family as they come to terms with this loss.

“This is the seventh woman to be murdered in the North in 2024. This is absolutely sickening.

“Violence against women and girls anywhere in our society is reprehensible and must be eradicated.

“Together we must unite and say enough is enough and do everything we can to bring violence, harm and abuse of women to an end.

“The local community is shocked and saddened by the death of this young woman and I would appeal to anyone with information to bring it forward to the PSNI.”
