Sinn Féin spokesperson on Housing, Eoin Ó Broin TD, has said that three independent reports released this week “once again highlight that the Government’s housing plan is not working”.
The Dublin Mid-West TD said that the only way to start fixing the housing crisis is a change of Government and change of housing plan.
Teachta Ó Broin said:
“This week three independent reports were released by the Society of Chartered Surveyors of Ireland, the Central Statistics Office, and Seville’s. These reports once again highlight that the Government’s housing plan is not working.
“The three reports highlight sky high house prices, chronic undersupply and the growing affordability challenge for working people looking to rent or buy a home.
“None of this will come as a surprise. Fine Gael has been in Government for 13 years. Fianna Fáil has been propping them up for the last 8 years.
“During all of that time house prices, rents and homelessness have risen to historic highs. Meanwhile delivery of social and affordable homes has been unacceptably low.
“The only way to start fixing the housing crisis is with a change of Government, a Sinn Féin Minister for Housing, and Sinn Féin’s alternative housing plan.
“That is the only plan that will deliver the tens of thousands of genuinely affordable homes that working people both need and deserve.”
