Teachers deserve fair pay and conditions – Sheehan

Sinn Féin MLA Pat Sheehan has welcomed the act of good faith from teaching unions to suspend planned strike action.

The party’s education spokesperson said:

“News that teaching unions will suspend further strike action while pay negotiations are ongoing is an act of good faith and I commend the unions for that.

“Our teachers, like all our public sector workers, deserve fair pay and conditions and I am hopeful these can be delivered in the time ahead.

“As Deputy-Chair of the Education Committee, I will work with all the parties and Minister of Education to ensure education staff get the pay rise which they are entitled to.”
