Sinn Féin spokesperson on Workers’ Rights, Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Louise O’Reilly TD, has written to the Taoiseach urging him to make a decisive intervention ahead of next week’s planned industrial action by Aer Lingus pilots.
Teachta O’Reilly said:
“I have written to an Taoiseach this morning urging him to make a decisive intervention ahead of next week’s planned industrial action by Aer Lingus pilots.
“Hard working families have saved up for their summer holidays and are now anxiously waiting to find out if they will go ahead. Furthermore, the impact of this action risks significant reputational damage to Ireland as a place to visit and invest, risking a considerable blow for Ireland’s tourism sector.
“This is not a time for inaction, or dithering. Government can and must initiate urgent and decisive action to get to grips with this. I have outlined to the Taoiseach how important it is that this now takes place. He must pick up the phone and proactively engage with all parties to this dispute.
“There is one weekend left now until the action is due to begin. The coming days can be crucial and must not be a missed opportunity by government.”
