Tackling health inequalities key to recovery plan – Gildernew

Sinn Féin MLA Colm Gildernew has said tackling health inequalities must be central to the post COVID recovery plan.

The party’s health spokesperson said:

“Year after year, reports from the Department of Health show the continued health inequalities that plague our most disadvantaged communities.

“Plans to rebuild from the pandemic are an opportunity for the Department of Health to begin addressing health inequalities across society.

“Today, I urged the Department to put tackling health inequalities at the core of all forward planning and rebuilding and they have committed to ensuring this happens.

“Addressing these inequalities is key to delivering a health and social care system that meets the needs of everyone in our society.”
