Sinn Féin select Chris MacManus MEP and Michelle Gildernew MP to contest the Midlands-North West European Parliament constituency

Speaking following the selection of Chris MacManus MEP and Michelle Gildernew MP to contest the European Parliament election in the Midlands-North West constituency in Cavan this afternoon, Sinn Féin President Mary Lou McDonald TD said:

“Chris MacManus and Michelle Gildernew are two great candidates for the Midlands-North West, with strong records of standing up for workers and families.

“The people of Midlands-North West can be certain as Sinn Féin MEPs that they will fight your corner and stand up for you in the European Parliament. They will move heaven and earth to make sure your voice is heard. They will lead from the front, and they will get the work done.

“Chris’ track record of delivery in Europe is second to none. Michelle’s experience as MP for Fermanagh-South Tyrone and as Minister for Agriculture make her a strong voice for communities across the region.

“There’s an appetite for real change, and that demand is growing stronger by the day.

“The European election is an important opportunity to secure this change and to elect MEPs who will work to maintain Ireland’s veto in Foreign Affairs and Defence, protect Irish neutrality and oppose increased EU military spending.”
