‘Sinn Féin ready to lead Government of change north and south’ – O’Neill

Leas Uachtarán Shinn Féin Michelle O’Neill told party activists in Dublin that Sinn Féin is ready to lead a positive agenda for change in Government north and south.

Speaking at the launch of the party’s campaign for Local and European elections today, Michelle O’Neill said:

“Political and social change is sweeping across the entire island, and growing day by day.

“Workers and families are demanding a new society, and a future filled with hope and optimism.

“North and south, Sinn Féin is leading that change, and we are charged with the responsibility of improving the lives of ordinary people.

“This week in the north, we set a budget against a backdrop of more than a decade of Tory cuts and underfunding.

“We cannot continue to be hamstrung by austerity from London, and I will work with all parties to fight the corner of every citizen we serve to deliver properly funded public services.

“This would allow us to transform our health service, invest in our children’s education, build more social and affordable homes, deliver a new childcare strategy and pay our workers a fair wage.

“The tide of history is with those who are seeking to build a better, a stronger and fairer future. A future that guarantees equal opportunities for all.

“In the south, we’re ready to lead a Government that places an agenda for positive change at the heart of it, and the upcoming Local and European elections represent another step in that journey.

“A Government that fixes the housing crisis, tackles the issues in the health service and one that builds a brighter, better future for all our people.

“Significant change is within our grasp. Change starts here.”
