Sinn Féin publish comprehensive and costed housing plan to solve the housing crisis – Eoin Ó Broin TD

Foilsíonn Sinn Féin plean tithíochta cuimsitheach agus costáilte chun an ghéarchéim tithíochta a réiteach

Sheol urlabhraí tithíochta Shinn Féin, Eoin Ó Broin TD, in éineacht le hUachtarán an Pháirtí, Mary Lou McDonald, agus le hurlabhraithe ar Airgeadas, Pearse Doherty, agus ar Chaiteachas Poiblí, Rose Conway Wash, inniu Do Theach Féin, plean Shinn Féin chun an ghéarchéim tithíochta a réiteach. Dúirt TD Bhaile Átha Cliath Thiar Meán: “De thoradh an phlean, beidh tithe ar phraghas réasúnta agus cuirfidh sé ar a gcumas do dhaoine atá ag obair teach a cheannach. Tá sé cuimsitheach, iomlán costáilte agus réidh le dul ón gcéad lá sa Rialtas.”

Dúirt an Teachta Ó Broin:

“Inniu, sheol Sinn Féin Do Theach Féin, ár bplean chun an ghéarchéim tithíochta a réiteach. Leagtar amach sa cháipéis 112 leathanach an dóigh a soláthródh Sinn Féin 300,000 teach poiblí agus príobháideach thar chúig bliana sa Rialtas, tithe atá slán, dóthanach agus ar phraghas réasúnta.

“Tá an plean bunaithe ar theagmháil fhairsing a rinneadh le pobail forbartha na hearnála poiblí, leathstáit agus príobháidí.

“De thoradh an phlean, bheadh tithe ar phraghas réasúnta agus cuirfear ar a gcumas do dhaoine atá ag obair teach a cheannach. Mhéadófaí aschur na tithíochta sóisialta faoi dhó go 75,000 teach nuathógtha agus 7,500 éadáil thar chúig bliana dá bharr, rud a laghdódh liostaí feithimh agus chuirfeadh deireadh le daoine a bheith gan dídean go fadtéarmach.

“Soláthródh Údaráis Áitiúla agus Comhlachtaí Ceadaithe Tithíochta 50,000 teach inacmhainne dá bharr. Leathchuid díobh le ceannach ar phraghsanna ag tosú ar €250,000 agus leath le ligean ar cíos ar mheánrátaí de €1000 in aghaidh na míosa. Sholáthródh an plean 115,000 teach príobháideach arbh fhéidir le ceannaitheoirí céaduaire agus daoine eile iad a cheannach, beagnach trí oiread an méid atá á sholáthar ag Rialtas an lae inniu.

“Chomh maith le cur leis an tsoláthar agus inacmhainneacht a bhrú chun tosaigh, leagann an plean amach fosta an dóigh a gcuirfidh muid deireadh le daoine a bheith gan dídean go fadtéarmach faoi 2030, agus an dóigh a dtabharfaidh muid faoi fhreastal ar shainriachtanais tithíochta daoine faoi mhíchumas, daoine scothaosta agus an Luchta Siúil.

“Chomh maith leis sin, leagtar amach sa phlean moltaí athchóirithe maidir le pleanáil, bainistíocht talún, rialú tógála, lochtanna, tithíocht ísealcharbóin, tithe folmha agus tréigthe gan ach cuid de a lua.

“Dóibh siúd ar spéis leo eolas a chur ar rogha radacach, inchreidte agus chostáilte Shinn Féin, is féidir an doiciméad iomlán a léamh ar ár suíomh gréasáin. Sna seachtainí amach romhainn beidh sé mar aidhm againn achoimre den doiciméad a chur chuig gach teach sa stát.

“Creidimid go mbeidh tithíocht ar an phríomhcheist sa chéad olltoghchán eile, agus ba mhaith linn go mbeidh daoine go hiomlán ar an eolas faoi rogha uaillmhianach Shinn Féin. Creidimid gur cheart teach dá chuid féin a bheith ag gach duine, teach atá slán, dóthanach agus ar phraghas réasúnta. Inniu, tá sé leagtha amach againn an dóigh a mbainfidh muid an cuspóir sin amach.”

Sinn Féin spokesperson on Housing, Eoin Ó Broin, along with Party President Mary Lou McDonald and spokespersons on Finance, Pearse Doherty, and Public Expenditure Rose Conway-Walsh today launched A Home of Your Own, Sinn Féin’s plan to solve the housing crisis. You can view the document in full at https://housing.sinnfein.ie

Deputy Ó Broin said that the plan ‘would make homes affordable and bring home ownership back into the reach of working people, and that it is comprehensive, fully costed and ready to go from day one in government’.

Teachta Ó Broin said:

“Today, Sinn Féin launched A Home of Your Own, our plan to solve the housing crisis. The 109-page document sets out how in government Sinn Féin would deliver 300,000 public and private homes over five years; homes that are secure, adequate and affordable.

“The plan is based on extensive engagement with the public, semi-state and private sector development communities.

“The plan would make homes affordable and bring home ownership back into the reach of working people. It would see a doubling in the output of social housing to 75,000 new-build homes and 7,500 acquisitions over five years, to reduce waiting lists and end long term homelessness.

“It would see the delivery of 50,000 affordable homes delivered by Local Authorities and Approved Housing Bodies. Half for purchase at prices from €250,000 and half to rent at prices averaging at €1000 per month.

“The plan would also deliver 115,000 private homes to buy for first time buyers and others, almost three times what the current Government is delivering.

“In addition to increasing supply and driving affordability, the plan also sets out how we would end long term homelessness by 2030, and meet the specific housing needs of people with disabilities, older people and Travellers.

“The plan also sets out detailed reform proposals for planning, land management, building control, defects, low carbon housing, vacancy and dereliction to name just some of the sections.

“For those interested to know Sinn Féin’s radical, credible and coasted alternative, you can read the full document on our website.

“In the coming weeks we will aim to put a summary of the document into every house in the state.

“We believe that housing will be the key issue in the next general election and we want people to know the full details of Sinn Féin’s ambitious alternative.

“We believe that everyone should have a home of their own, a home that is secure, adequate and affordable. Today, we have set out how we would achieve that objective.”
