Sinn Féin have announced a second candidate, Caroline Hogan, has been selected to contest the Kildare North constituency in the upcoming general election.
Ms Hogan is an experienced activist who has worked as constituency office manager for Réada Cronin for several years.
She will run alongside Teachta Cronin.
Speaking today, Ms Hogan said:
“I am honoured to be fighting this election in Kildare North as one of two Sinn Féin candidates. I am grateful to everyone in the party locally who has put their trust in me to contest the election.
“I am delighted to be running alongside Réada Cronin TD, who has been a formidable force representing this constituency since her election to the Dáil. This election, the people of Kildare North will have the opportunity to elect two hard working Sinn Féin TDs to represent them in the Dáil.
“Voters will face a stark choice at this election. A choice between more of the same in Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael, or a vote for a government of change by voting Sinn Féin. We are asking voters to give us the chance to show what change looks like. We have the ambition, the determination and the policies to deliver real and meaningful change.”
Teachta Cronin said:
“I am delighted that Caroline Hogan is contesting this election alongside me to represent Kildare North. As an experienced activist and as my constituency office manager, she has helped thousands of people in Kildare North on a range of issues including housing issues, accessing healthcare and education supports, to name just a few. I have worked closely with Caroline for many years and I know that she will work tirelessly to help people on the issues that matter to them and is ready to hit the ground running in the Dáil.
“Caroline being added to the ticket here shows just how serious we are about creating a Sinn Féin led government.
“The people of Kildare North can have a Sinn Féin team that can really ensure their interests are front and centre after this election.
“A Sinn Féin-led Government will stand up for ordinary people. We will make housing affordable, deliver €10 a day childcare, abolish USC for average workers, abolish the means test for the carer’s allowance, ensure access to a GP when you need it and work to advance Irish Unity.
“Across Kildare North, it is clear that there is an appetite for real change. People know that this election represents a clear choice between the status quo or change. I am asking people to come out on 29th November and vote to elect two strong, hard-working TDs to represent Kildare North in the Dáil.”
