Sheerin welcomes additional funding to help communities tackle violence against women and girls

Sinn Féin MLA Emma Sheerin has welcomed the announcement of an additional £1.2 million to support organisations working to end violence against women and girls.

The Mid Ulster MLA said:

“I welcome today’s announcement which will see £1.2 million distributed amongst grassroots organisations to raise awareness around violence against women and girls.

“This follows the recently announced £2 million to help local communities end the scourge of violence against women and girls.

“Ensuring people right across society can recognise and understand this issue, and know how to prevent it, is key to bringing about real and positive change in our communities.

“Women and girls must feel safe no matter where they are in society, and the funding announced today by the Executive underlines its commitment to tackling this issue.”
