Sheehan urges Education Authority to prioritise children with SEN

Sinn Féin MLA Pat Sheehan has urged the Education Authority’s leadership team to listen to parents and to prioritise the needs of children with special educational needs (SEN).

Following a meeting of the Education Committee, the party’s education spokesperson said:

“Children with SEN being placed in September must be suitably placed on time and the crises of previous years must not be repeated.

“Sinn Féin have consistently called for an overhaul of the SEN system to ensure it meets the needs of children and families.

“As we seek to transform services for these children and young people we must ensure their voices and the voices of their families are listened to by decision makers.

“I would urge the Education Authority and the education department to work alongside the health minister to transform SEN services so that the needs of children and young people are properly met.”

We need change like never before. We need a new government that will put workers, families, and community first.

It’s time for new people with new ideas.  It’s time for change.

‘Recognition of a Palestinian state will happen’. Welcome words from @MichealMartinTD but falls short of a firm declaration.
There may be no Palestine left to recognise unless Ireland & international community act decisively and immediately. No more delays.
