Sheehan slams plans for more illegal Israeli settlements

Sinn Féin MLA Pat Sheehan has condemned Israeli plans to build over 4000 new illegal settlement units across the West Bank.

The West Belfast MLA said:

“I condemn fresh plans by the Israeli government to build 4000 new illegal Israeli settlements on Palestinian land in the West Bank.

“Yet again, this is a clear breach of international law, particularly at a time when Palestinians are suffering the impacts of a public health emergency.

“It’s disgraceful that the Israeli government has been allowed to continue with near-impunity for years now with little or no sanction.

“The international community, and the EU in particular, need to stand by the Palestinian people and act on these continuing breaches of international law.”
