Sinn Féin MLA Pat Sheehan has marked the 76th anniversary of Nakba by condemning Israel’s continued brutal agenda of genocide, ethnic cleansing and apartheid against the Palestinian people.
The party’s Middle East spokesperson said:
“Each year on 15 May we remember the ‘Nakba’, when more than 700,000 Palestinians were displaced during the 1948 Palestine war.
“On today’s anniversary of this catastrophe, our thoughts are firmly with the people of Gaza and the West Bank as Israel’s brutal seven-month-long onslaught continues.
“Israel’s war machine must be brought to a halt; we need an end to the occupation, a permanent ceasefire agreed and a lasting peaceful settlement.”
