Sheehan expresses solidarity with striking education staff

Sinn Féin MLA Pat Sheehan has expressed his support and solidarity for striking educational support staff.

The party’s education spokesperson said:

“I want to express my support and solidarity with the education workers who are striking for fair pay.

“These workers are vital in keeping our schools running, supporting children with additional needs, driving our young people safely to school and ensuring they have a cooked meal.

“They absolutely deserve fair pay and conditions, and the British government’s continued underfunding of public services here is preventing these workers from being paid what they deserve.

“Tory cuts and underfunding must end, our public services must be funded to meet the needs of workers, families and our communities.

“I want to commend the finance minister who is pressing the British Treasury to ensure public services are properly funded and that our education workers are paid a fair wage.”
