Senator Niall Ó Donnghaile welcomes preservation of CAIN archive

Sinn Féin’s leader in the Seanad, Senator Niall Ó Donnghaile has welcomed the news that the CAIN archive will continue following a funding donation.

Speaking today, Senator Ó Donnghaile said:

“I welcome that the future of the CAIN archive has been secured following a funding donation. The archive is an important educational, political and societal resource.

“Since it was established in 1997, the archive has been instrumental in the education of students, academics and the wider public.

“After concerns about the future of the archive were raised last year following loss of funding, I spoke in the Seanad about the importance of preserving it.

“It is crucial that people have a broad understanding of the conflict and to be informed about our experiences of history.

“It is very welcome news that the archive will be preserved for future generations.”
