Savage Tory cuts to public services must end – Sheehan

Sinn Féin MLA Pat Sheehan has backed calls for an end to ‘chronic underfunding’ of education.

Speaking after seven chief executives in charge of education bodies in the north wrote to the British Secretary of State, the party’s education spokesperson said:

“Savage Tory cuts to public services, including education, have targeted our most disadvantaged children and young people. The cuts should end now and instead deliver proper funding to support public services.

“Children must be supported in school to have the best start in life, but instead they are paying the price for damaging and irreparable Tory cuts, while one party continues its boycott of the Assembly and Executive.

“Public patience has run out.

“We need a new, properly-funded Executive that invests in our education system, supports children and young people and ensures hardworking education staff are paid fairly.”
