Savage Tory cuts have cost the north hundreds of millions – Murphy

Sinn Féin MLA Conor Murphy has said savage Tory cuts and one party’s boycott of the Executive has cost the north £150 million.

The party’s economy spokesperson said:

“While one party continues to boycott the Executive, the British government has consistently attacked public services and workers here.

“Now they have withheld £150 million extra funding and Levelling Up money from the north that could be used to fund our public services.

“We have seen health and education budgets slashed. Funding for vital public services and community projects cut. And public sector workers denied a fair pay deal. This is unacceptable.

“In the absence of an Executive, the British government must get on with delivering fair pay for public sector workers without delay.

“We need local ministers around the Executive table working together to negotiate new financial arrangements for the north and to protect workers and families from savage Tory cuts.”
