Sinn Féin MLA Nicola Brogan has said banks must ensure that rural communities have access to services.
The West Tyrone MLA was speaking after the meeting of the banking roundtable today:
“The loss of bank branches further erodes the availability of banking services in small towns and rural areas across the north.
“These closures have had an impact on staff, on customers who don’t or can’t use digital services and on small local businesses.
“The future of banking services needs to be designed with communities and other service providers and my colleague Finance Minister Caoimhe Archibald raised this at today’s ‘Banking Roundtable’.
“Sinn Féin will continue to push for forums like this to be used to design services and challenge the rationale for branch closures and the impact that resulting loss of services will have on small towns and the communities they serve.”
