‘Roscommon Women’s Network – A Vital Community Service’ – MEP MacManus
Sinn Féin MEP Chris MacManus recently visited Roscommon Women’s Network in Castlerea and commended the staff and volunteers for the service they provide to the local community. MacManus was joined by Castlerea Sinn Féin members Henry Hughes (Chair), Seamus O”Brien & Rose Hughes.
Speaking after the visit, the Midlands North West MEP said:
“I was pleased to meet with the Roscommon Women’s Network in Castlerea including their manager Nora Fahy alongside staff members and volunteers. It was an enjoyable occasion and it was great to see the work being done by the team there to support women in the wider Roscommon community.”
“Nora outlined how the Network provides a vital link between women and the services they need to improve their lives, connecting them with relevant organisations and fostering their development. Crucially this is provided in a safe, non-judgemental environment.”
“In addition the Network provides a number of other services including training, and are involved in a number of other local community initiatives. These help to empower women as well as boost confidence and self-esteem.”
“The facilities provided are top-class and have made a huge difference in the lives of countless women who have sought help from the Network.”
“The local community have also played an important role in helping sustain the centre, as all outreach work and the shop are supported by fundraising.”
“I want to commend the staff and volunteers for their fantastic work and look forward to visiting again in future.” ENDS
