Removal of Michael Watt from medical register ‘welcome step’ – Ní Chuilín

Sinn Féin MLA Carál Ní Chuilín has said news that Michael Watt has been removed from the medical register is a welcome step for his former patients and families impacted by the neurology scandal.

Carál Ní Chuilín said:

“News that Michael Watt is to be removed from medical register is a welcome step for his former patients and families impacted by the neurology scandal.

“Thousands of patients and families were subjected to years of distress due to misdiagnosis and mistreatments and still feel the impact today.
“They deserve answers about what happened and to get to the full truth to make sure that it can never happen again.

“It is essential that those responsible for serious misconduct in the medical profession are held to account, and that the public has confidence in the regulatory bodies which oversee the medical profession.

“Sinn Féin will continue to work with and support the families to get full disclosure, truth and justice.”
