Cathy Mason

Cathy Mason candidate for South Down

Cathy Mason is an energetic and effective public representative and is widely recognised as a strong voice for her community.

Elected to Newry, Mourne & Down Council in 2019, Cathy has championed equality of services for rural residents. She has delivered suicide & addiction workshops in Drumaness; secured a much needed roads resurfacing scheme in Loughinisland; and a new play park in Teconnaught.

On her appointment as Chairperson of Council this year, Cathy has prioritised mental health as she continues to fight for acute services to be retained and enhanced in Downpatrick.

Significantly she also secured much needed financial support for local workers & businesses who have suffered from poor mental health due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

As a young mum Cathy enjoys spending time with her family away from political life, and is still a playing member and Camogie coach with the newly established St Kevins GAC.
