‘Positive news’ medical students now able to access tuition fee loans for Magee – Delargy

Sinn Féin MLA Pádraig Delargy has welcomed an announcement from Economy Minister Conor Murphy which will enable graduate entry medical students to access tuition fee loans from September 2025 when studying at Magee.

The Foyle MLA said:

“This is a positive news story for the north west, with medical students now able to access tuition fee loans from the start of the next academic year.

“Previously, these were not available and created a barrier to students accessing Magee’s Graduate Entry Medical School.

“Supporting medical students is vital in both removing barriers to education and also in committing to adequately staffing our health service

“Since taking up office, Economy Minister Conor Murphy has prioritised working towards 10,000 students at Magee Campus, and promoting regional balance.

“Sinn Féin in the Executive are driving forward real and positive change for the north west, further establishing the region as an exciting place to live, work and study.

“The full expansion of Magee is a priority for my party, to drive the local economy and continue with the positive transformation of Derry and the north west.”
