Sinn Féin MP John Finucane has welcomed a £48 million investment to progress the north-south Belfast Glider route.
Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins made the announcement today which will see work beginning on the route, including the construction of new bus lanes and a park and ride in north Belfast.
“I am delighted to see work beginning on the new north-south Glider route which will have a transformative impact for communities across Belfast,” the North Belfast MP said.
“The rollout of the Glider will help to better connect our city, improve access to jobs and education and continue with our move to a cleaner and greener society.”
In her ministerial statement, the Minister announced the current ‘G2’ route which covers Titanic Quarter will expand to include Queen’s University Belfast and Belfast City Hospital.
Mr. Finucane also praised Minister Kimmins’ commitment to the full delivery of the project.
“This is a positive first step in the right direction as we look forward to the full project being delivered.
“I am determined to continue working with the Minister as the north-south route progresses further, and we realise the huge potential this service will bring.”
