Pa Daly TD welcomes progress in talks between Garda representatives and management

Sinn Féin spokesperson on Justice, Pa Daly TD, has welcomed news of progress in the ongoing talks between Garda representatives and management.

Teachta Daly said:

“I welcome the fact that the proposed protest action will be deferred, after talks which took place today.

“While this will give time and space to resolve the rosters issue, it now falls to the government to resolve the wider and long term issues which have indirectly contributed to this crisis.

“Morale within An Garda Síochána has been low for some time, with Gardaí having to cover for the decline in numbers.

“Efforts must be made to publish the regulations for the Garda reserve , establish a task force on retention and solve the ongoing issues within recruitment.”
