Pa Daly TD praises Garda anti-drug operation

Sinn Féin spokesperson on Justice, Pa Daly TD, has praised two large Garda operations across multiple locations in the East and South/Mid-West of the country, which saw over €5 million of drugs seized.

Speaking today, Teachta Daly said:

“The reported street value of over €5 million makes this a significant achievement for An Garda Síochána.

“Whilst there have been a number of arrests and disruption to criminal networks, they continue to import drugs and cause misery for communities. The most vulnerable are always the ones who will suffer the most from their activities.

“The Citizens Assembly report, published this week, does mention the restriction of supply through the work of Gardaí. In that context, it will continue to be important to address the crisis in recruitment and retention in An Garda Síochána.”
