Pa Daly TD condemns attack on Gardaí

Sinn Féin spokesperson on Justice, Pa Daly TD, has today condemned the attack on Gardaí at a site in Newtownmountkennedy, Co. Wicklow.

According to An Garda Síochána, members on duty came under attack at the site as workers entered to carry out lawful employment.

Teachta Daly said:

“I condemn this attack in the strongest terms. Individuals trespassed, set fires and threw various items at Gardaí.

“Garda have powers available where demonstrators are engaging in threatening behaviour, blocking roads and entrances to workplaces and setting fire.

“We must be unequivocal in both our support for Gardaí, and condemnation of criminality. Violence and damage to property are totally unacceptable, as death or serious injury will surely follow.”
