Pa Daly TD commends Gardaí role in seizing drugs cargo

Sinn Féin spokesperson on Justice, Pa Daly TD, has welcomed the seizure of a suspected drugs cargo off the coast of Cork.

Speaking today, Teachta Daly said:

“I welcome this seizure of a substantial drugs cargo. I commend the Gardaí and naval officers involved for their swift action to apprehend the vessel and material onboard.

“The officers have been involved in a complex and challenging operation and I commend their courage and determination.

“This seizure represents a blow to international crime and the gangs that distribute these substances. These gangs have no place in our society and cause misery for communities by fuelling crime and addiction.

“I hear from people every week who have family members who are being threatened and intimidated over drug debts.

“This seizure is yet another reminder of how crucial it is that An Garda Síochána have the resources and personnel they need to tackle these international drugs gangs.”
