McGuigan welcomes increase in all-island tourism

Sinn Féin MLA Phillip McGuigan has welcomed the report by Ulster University and Dublin City University which explores ‘Tourism on the island of Ireland’.

The party’s tourism spokesperson said:

“The significant increase in day trips and short stays from the south to the north is good news for our pubs, restaurants and tourism providers as they continue to rebuild and grow.

“It highlights the vast potential of our tourism and hospitality offering which is also attracting growing numbers of international visitors to the north and encouraging those flying into Dublin to add destinations across the north to their holiday itinerary.

“We must continue to work together to maximise the clear benefits to our economy and work to address barriers such as the Electronic Travel Authorisation permit resulting from Brexit which will impact travel by overseas visitors across the island.”
