Mason welcomes childcare commitment in draft Programme for Government

Sinn Féin MLA Cathy Mason has welcomed the Executive’s reaffirmed commitment to delivering affordable childcare.

Speaking after the launch of the draft Programme for Government, the party’s childcare spokesperson said:

“I welcome the launch of the draft Programme for Government which has reaffirmed the Executive’s ongoing commitment to delivering high quality, affordable childcare.

“This follows on from the Executive’s interim childcare subsidy scheme, which is providing £25 million to cut costs for parents.

“While more work remains, these are positive steps in the right direction towards fully bringing down childcare costs and supporting parents, children and providers.

“Sinn Féin will continue to work with all parties to reduce bills for parents, support struggling providers and to give our children the very best start to life.”
