Mason welcomes Asda Downpatrick opening temporary store

Sinn Féin MLA Cathy Mason has said it is welcome Asda are set to open a temporary store in January 2024 while work continues to rebuild a permanent store.

The South Down MLA said:

“This is a welcome announcement for workers from this store as well as independent retailers who operate in the town. 

“From the outset, Sinn Féin stressed the importance of retaining workers and protecting as many jobs as possible.

“I would encourage people to visit Downpatrick in the time ahead and support the many fantastic independent retailers we have in our town, especially after the stressful and difficult time they have had in the past few months. 

“I will continue working to help Downpatrick recover from recent flooding and to ensure the town gets back on its feet as quickly as possible.”
