Sinn Féin President Mary Lou McDonald TD has welcomed news that the travel ban imposed on Tori Towey has been lifted.
The 28 year old Roscommon woman has been detained in Dubai.
Speaking today, Teachta McDonald said:
“I want to thank everyone for the huge support shown to Tori and Caroline over the last number of days. The ordeal Tori has been subjected to has been horrendous.
“I know that Tori and her mum are deeply grateful for the solidarity and good will that has been shown towards them across Ireland. We now await their safe return to Ireland and to Roscommon.
“I will continue to work with everyone involved, to ensure this now happens and that they are home with their loved ones in Roscommon as soon as possible.”
Sinn Féin TD for Roscommon, Claire Kerrane said:
“This is a very welcome development. Tori has shown incredible strength during the most appalling circumstances. We are all determined to see her back in Ireland and reunited with her family.
“I want who has shown solidarity with Tori and ensured her case got the urgent attention it needed. Understandably, Tori’s family will not rest until she is home in Roscommon safe and sound, and neither will we.”
