Mary Lou McDonald speaks to An Taoiseach on need for intervention in Coolock

Sinn Féin Leader Mary Lou McDonald spoke to An Taoiseach Simon Harris this morning outlining the urgent need for intervention in Coolock to ensure that order is restored and that engagement with the community begins.

Ms. McDonald said:

“I spoke with An Taoiseach this morning about the urgent need for engagement and dialogue with the community in Coolock.

“The violent scenes at the former Crown Paint site over recent days are totally unacceptable.  The violence must end and those responsible need to be held to account.  It is crucial that order is restored.

“There is an urgent need for engagement and dialogue with the community in Coolock. This is crucial in a community which has been ignored and left behind time and again. People must be heard and responded to.

“The lack of dialogue, failure to listen and lack of resources and services has driven anger and fear. This can be fixed and it must be addressed urgently.”
