Local businesses devastated by fire – Murphy

Sinn Féin MLA Conor Murphy has said local businesses will be devastated after a fire broke out in the Loughbrook Industrial Estate last night.

The Newry and Armagh MLA said:

“Last night’s fire completely destroyed one unit and caused damage to a number of others. Thankfully, a quick response by local business owners and the fire service helped ensure the fire did not spread further.

“The affected units will likely need to be demolished, which is a major blow for the businesses impacted and their workers just weeks away from Christmas.

“My sympathy goes out to these businesses and their workers in particular, as well as the other businesses in the industrial estate. I hope they can recover quickly and be back up and running as soon as possible.

“We will be available to offer any advice or assistance to the businesses impacted in the time ahead.”
