Legislation to protect homeowners with defective properties a ‘crucial step’ – Finucane

Sinn Féin MP John Finucane has welcomed the communities minister’s intention to bring forward legislation to protect homeowners claiming compensation for defective properties.

The North Belfast MP said:

“I welcomed a commitment from the communities minister to bring forward legislation to protect homeowners claiming compensation for their defective properties.

“This will close the legal loophole which has cut homeowners off from claiming compensation.

“Residents living in Victoria Square apartments have incurred huge costs for their properties while not being able to live in them. Today’s announcement is a crucial step in helping families and homeowners whose lives have been destroyed by this ordeal.”
