Leagfaidh Sinn Féin amach fís cuimsitheach do na healaíona ag ár dtionól Dáil Ealaíon – Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD

Tá sé ráite ag urlabhraí Gaeilge, Gaeltachta, Ealaíon, Cultúir, Turasóireachta agus Meán, Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD, go bhfuil a pháirtí tiomanta seasamh suas ar son ealaíontóirí agus na healaíona a chur chun tosaigh.

Tháinig a ráiteas roimh comhchainteanna arna eagrú ag an pháirtí le os cionn 100 ealaíontóirí agus eagrais ealaíon chun an polasaí rialtais a theastaíonn chun féidearthachtaí an earnála a phlé. Beidh Uachtarán Shinn Féin Mary Lou McDonald agus an Seanadóir Fintan Warfield i láthair chomh maith.

Ag Dáil Ealaíon Shinn Féin, beidh ealaíontóirí as gach chearn den tír, ag déanamh ionadaíocht thar cheann réimse leathan ealaíon, ag teacht le cheil chun plé a dhéanamh maidir le conas athrú riachtanach don earnáil a sheachadadh agus teorainn a bhriseadh síos do ealaíontóirí, lucht féachana agus pobail.

Ag caint tráthnóna, roimh ócáid an lae amárach, dúirt an Teachta Ó Snodaigh:

“Tá Sinn Féin dáiríre faoi ealaíontóirí agus ealaíona a chur chun tosaigh agus tacú leo. Tá earnáil saibhear agus éagsúil ealaíon ag Éirinn, ach go rómhinic ní éiríonn le polasaithe an rialtais tacú leo siúd is mó a theastaíonn cabhair uathu, agus airíonn a lán daoine ar nós go bhfuileadar fágtha ar an dtaobh amuigh.

“Creideann muid in earnáil ealaíon atá beo, bríomhar agus lán d’éagsúlacht. Nuair a thacaítear leis na healaíona, tacaítear leis an ngeilleagar, sochaí agus deabhail. Tuigeann muid go bhfuil go leor gur féidir a dhéanamh chun féidearthachtaí an earnála a éascú agus a chinntiú go bhfuil polasaithe ag feidhmiú mar is cóir.

“Lárnach san obair sin, tá rannpháirtíocht an earnála, ag cinntiú go n-éisteofar le guthanna ealaíontóra. Mar urlabhraí Gaeilge, Gaeltachta, Ealaíon, Cultúir, Turasóireachta agus Meán, tá bród orm go raibh an deis agamsa tabhairt faoin obair seo le cúpla bliain anuas, chun a chinntiú go dtéanna muid i dteagmháil leis an bpobal ealaíon ina héagsúlacht. Ba mhaith liom mo bhuíochas a ghabháil leo siúd a ghlac páirt sna comhráití seo go fóill, as a n-ionchur agus aiseolas ríthábhachtach.

“Is é tionól an lae amárach toradh ar a lán den obair sin, toisc go mbeidh muid ag leagan amach moltaí Shinn Féin faoi cad a dhéanfadh muid i rialtas chun tacú leis na healaíona.

“Beidh muid ag éisteacht go géar le healaíontóirí, lena gcuid aiseolas agus taithí. Ní mór dúinn a bheith cruinn leis an obair seo, agus tá Sinn Féin dáiríre faoi sin.

“Le linn an tseachtain seo, seolfaidh Sinn Féin 5 mórdhoiciméid polasaí ag leagan amach ár bhfís sna réimsí seo: na taibhealaíona, na healaíona liteartha, na healaíona físe agus closamhairc, na hamharc-ealaíona, ceird agus dearadh, agus chun tacú le healaíontóirí na hÉireann trasna na cineáil ealaíon go léir.

“Táimid tiomanta gach ní a dhéanamh don earnáil ríthábhachtach seo, agus táim ag súil go mór leis an bplé.”

Sinn Féin to set out comprehensive vision for the arts at our Dáil Ealaíon assembly – Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD

Sinn Féin spokesperson on Gaeilge, Gaeltacht, Arts, Culture, Tourism and Media, Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD, has said the party is committed to standing up for artists and championing the arts.

His comments came ahead of a roundtable discussion event the party is hosting of more than 100 artists and arts organisations to discuss how the right government policy can unlock the sector’s true potential. Uachtarán Shinn Féin Mary Lou McDonald and Senator Fintan Warfield will also be in attendance.

Sinn Féin’s Dáil Ealaíon (Arts Assembly) roundtable will see artists from across Ireland and representing a diverse range of arts come together to discuss how to deliver the change that the sector needs and break down barriers for artists, audiences and communities.

Speaking this evening, ahead of tomorrow’s event, Teachta Ó Snodaigh said:

“Sinn Féin are committed to championing and delivering for artists and the arts. Ireland has a rich and diverse arts sector, but too often government policies fail to reach those most in need of support, and many feel locked out of the arts sector.

“We believe in an arts sector that is vibrant, thriving and diverse. Supporting the arts means supporting our economy, society, and wellbeing. We know that much more can be done to unlock the sector’s potential and ensure policies are working well.

“Key to this is close engagement with the sector and ensuring that voices of artists are heard. As spokesperson on Gaeilge, Gaeltacht, Arts, Culture, Tourism and Media, I have been proud to undertake this work over the last number of years, to ensure that we engage with the full diversity of our artistic community. I want to thank all of those who have taken part in these conversations so far, for their valuable insights and feedback.

“Tomorrow’s assembly is the culmination of much of that work, as we will present Sinn Féin’s proposed policies outlining what we would do in government to deliver for the arts.

“We will be listening carefully to artists, to their feedback and their experiences. It is crucial that we get this right and Sinn Féin are committed to doing exactly that.

“Over the course of this week, Sinn Féin will be launching 5 major policy documents setting out our vision in the following areas: the performing arts, the literary arts, the audiovisual and film arts, visual arts, crafts and design, and for supporting Irish artists across artforms.

“We are determined to deliver for this vital sector and I look forward to this important engagement.”
