Kimmins welcomes pay deal for resident doctors

Sinn Féin MLA Liz Kimmins has welcomed the pay agreement between the Department of Health and the British Medical Association (BMA).

The party’s health spokesperson said:

“I warmly welcome the outcome of the pay negotiations. This will see a pay deal secured for resident doctors which is recognition of the invaluable work they do for their patients.

“Our doctors work tirelessly in often challenging conditions to deliver vital care to our communities. It is only right that their contribution is properly valued, and this agreement reflects an important recognition of their efforts.

“Sinn Féin has consistently called for fair pay and conditions for all healthcare workers, and we will continue to stand in solidarity with them to ensure that our health service is properly resourced and supported.

“I want to thank the BMA and all involved in securing this agreement. It is now vital that we work together to tackle the broader challenges in our health service to ensure it remains sustainable and effective for patients and staff.”
