Kimmins welcomes discussions on junior doctors pay

Sinn Féin MLA Liz Kimmins has welcomed news that the health minister and trade unions are in discussions over fair pay for junior doctors.

The party’s health spokesperson said:

“It is welcome that the health minister and trade unions are in discussions to reach an agreement on a fair pay increase for junior doctors.

“Our junior doctors are the future of our health service, and ensuring they have fair pay and safe working conditions is crucial to recruiting and retaining doctors to care for patients.

“Like all health workers they are burnt out from working long hours in often challenging conditions in our hospitals.

“It is important these discussions continue and that a focus is placed on reaching a pay settlement quickly.”
