Sinn Féin MLA Liz Kimmins today attended a conference on health and social care reform, which was addressed by Professor Rafael Bengoa.
Speaking after, the party’s health spokesperson said:
“Our health services are in urgent need of reform.
“Today’s address by Professor Rafael Bengoa set out the stark realities of health care here and the pressing need to address issues facing services.
“As the professor outlined, quality of care and patient safety must be the guiding principles on how we move forward and primary and community care, and early intervention and prevention are vitally important to that.
“Health issues are cross cutting and we all must work to improve health outcomes and address inequalities.
“Simply put, we cannot afford to continue as is.
“I am committed to working with the Minister for Health and the other parties on the committee to cut waiting lists, support workers and to bring about real and positive change in our health and social care services.”
