Sinn Féin MLA Declan Kearney has encouraged workers and unions across the north to complete the ‘Good Jobs’ Consultation launched by the Minister for the Economy, Conor Murphy.
The party’s Workers’ Rights spokesperson said:
“The ‘Good Jobs’ Employment Rights Bill consultation closes on September 30, 2024.
“This consultation gives workers, unions and businesses an unprecedented opportunity to shape future legislation on workers’ rights, including tackling zero hour contracts, precarious work, union membership, paternity leave and flexible working conditions.
“Minister Murphy has prioritised the ‘Good Jobs’ programme as an integral part of his plans for economic growth. He has set out a vision for a productive, competitive, and fair economy which addresses inequality and wealth disparity through the creation of a workforce that is well – paid, securely employed and where families are guaranteed a good standard of living.
“I would strongly urge all those who have not yet done so, to complete and submit their responses to the ‘Good Jobs’ consultation. This unprecedented opportunity should be seized to shape future legislation which will be critical to the provision of workers’ rights in the north.”
