Kearney meets with President Ramaphosa

Sinn Féin MLA Declan Kearney has today met with the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa.

Speaking after the meeting, the Party’s National Chairperson said:

“I was honoured to meet with President Ramaphosa today.

“We discussed the upcoming elections in South Africa and the huge opportunities that lie ahead to strengthen relations between our countries.

“We also spoke about the change that is sweeping across Ireland, and the growing momentum for a fairer island that delivers for workers, families and communities. I also briefed the President on the growing support for Irish unity and constitutional change.

“We discussed Israel’s genocidal war against the Palestinian people in Gaza. This onslaught and entire apartheid system and illegal occupation of Palestine must be ended. A permanent ceasefire must be agreed immediately.

“I also commended the President for South Africa’s courageous ICJ case against Israel and we pledged to continue working to end the genocide in, and occupation of Palestine.”
