Sinn Féin MP Dáire Hughes has welcomed the announcement by RTÉ that people from the north will now be able to enter the broadcaster’s All-Ireland Final ticket competition, having initially excluded northern citizens.
The Newry and Armagh MP said:
“I welcome the right and sensible decision by RTÉ to ensure people from the north can enter their competition for tickets to Sunday’s Armagh and Galway All-Ireland Final clash.
“It would have been unthinkable to lock the people of the six counties out of the chance to win tickets to watch a northern county play in tomorrow’s final which will be watched by people right across this island.
“This is another positive step in the right direction in breaking down barriers faced by northern citizens when trying to avail of RTÉ’s services.
“Sinn Féin will continue working to ensure that RTÉ is accessible to all across the entire island.”
