Hosting Euro 2028 an ‘unmissable opportunity’ – Finucane

Sinn Féin MP John Finucane has said hosting the 2028 Euros in Belfast is an ‘unmissable opportunity’ that will generate millions into the local economy.

Responding to a report on the economic benefits of the games, the North Belfast MP said:

“Hosting the 2028 Euros in a newly developed Casement Park is an unmissable and unique economic opportunity that will leave an unprecedented legacy for local sport.

“A fresh report commissioned by Ulster GAA has revealed that hosting these games in the north could be worth over £100 million to the local economy.

“The economic benefits of hosting these games in Belfast are clearly transformational and will be an epic opportunity to showcase the best of our island on the world stage through the power of sport.

“We must seize the opportunity to host the Euros by continuing to drive forward the redevelopment of Casement Park as a first-class facility fit to host this prestigious competition.”
